Guglielmo Militello has a dual background in philosophy and cell biology. As a research scientist, his research consists in investigating the biological processes (metabolic, signalling, regulatory) underlying (haematopoietic) stem cells and how such processes can be exploited in translational research in onco-hematology and immuno-oncology (notably, CAR-T cells).

As a philosopher, his research explores how living systems achieve unity across cells, organisms, and collectives, with implications for evolutionary theory and biomedicine. He is the author of Functional Integration: A Theoretical Enquiry into the Biological Unit of the Individual, published by Springer.
